One of the hard parts about winter and the bitter cold is that you crave the things that may not be great for you. You want the things that are comforting and warming.
It may be time to find something that is not bad for you but can fill the same need.
Try new recipes. Find somethings that are not heavy that you can look forward too. For us, it is the Lemon Ckn with Capers. It has a lot of flavor but is low on calories. The whole family likes it. And the major bonus is that it is really easy to make.
Make a meal that you usually make in the summer to transport you to the warmth. Get a grill pan or a indoor grill so you can make these dishes year round. You can marinate things all day while you are at work so that you can make a quick meal when you get home. Again, lots of flavor with low calories.
Find some good soup recipes. The great thing about soups is that you can make a huge batch and most are freezer friendly. It is a great thing to do on a cold day. It fills the house with warmth and great smells.
